Working at Vanier
………………….
Introduction
………………….
What good fortune! I was among the 1st to work at Vanier College when it opened in 1970, hired to teach in 2 departments – English and Creative Arts (photography). Though I already had three years under my belt, having taught Freshman English at Loyola College, it was at Vanier that I grew up!
Over the years, I had opportunities to work on enriching jobs, in addition to teaching, which brought me into contact with teachers, staff and students outside my departments. From designing the Vanier Darkroom and photo space, developing curriculum, managing budgets, to participating in the Women Studies program, team teaching, organizing activities, coordinating Creative Arts, later called Communications: Art, Media, Theatre department, working on the Union executive, editing and laying out the Newsletter, and more… Occasionally the camera was along for the ride…
